Heather earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Brigham Young University in 2018 after having completed her Bachelors in Social Work at Utah Valley University in 2016. Previous to completing her education she worked for Intermountain Health Care for over 19 years supporting families through grief experiences during the death of an infant or child.
Upon graduation Heather has been working at a substance use recovery center working with adults struggling with addiction to various substances. She joined the Family Transitions team in August of 2019.
Heather’s approach to therapy is client-centered and believes in the power of the individual to overcome adversity in their life. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and is certified in EMDR. In addition, Heather has worked with clients to address issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and pornography and improving communication and life skills .
Heather is a native of San Diego but has been a Utah resident for over 29 years. She has been married for over 28 years and has seven children. She enjoys the beach, traveling, being outdoors, eating good food and having fun with friends and family.
