For all of those lessons in Sunday School, and all the times Mom sternly said it, by now we all know we need to forgive. But have you ever been taught how to do it? That’s like starting a new job as a dentist with no formal education in dental school, when all you have ever known about the dental world is to brush and floss your teeth twice a day. It’s a little overwhelming!
Not to mention, there are several myths floating around that make forgiveness sound difficult or like it's a really bad idea. Here are a few examples of where many people get stuck when it comes to forgiving others:
Why should I forgive when I haven't received an apology?
How can I forgive a person who isn't willing to change?
I don't want to forgive because I don't want my offender thinking that what they did was okay.
There's no way I'm going to let that person back into my life by forgiving them!
After teaching forgiveness at BYU Education Week for several years, and hearing many people express that they wish this could be taught somewhere more accessible and more often, Steve Eastmond has created a specialized two-hour course on HOW to forgive (not just the importance of forgiving).
Comments from attendees:
* "Finally I know how to forgive! I feel like I can go home and get to work on letting things go."
* "I feel like now I understand forgiveness."
* "Why doesn't MY therapist know about this?! I've gone to therapy for four years and could have used this years ago to help me move on!"
* "This information has changed my life!"
If you have struggled with any of these myths about forgiveness, or simply need to learn how to do it, enlist in this two-hour course that will teach you what you need to know in order to forgive and move forward in peace!
